The Service Scholar Program is designed to recognize students with an outstanding record of service and leadership and to promote civic responsibility as an integral part of a liberal arts education at Florida State University. Admission to the Program is reserved for freshmen who have demonstrated excellence in service and leadership in planning and promoting community involvement among their peers. Applicants must evidence an interest in strengthening their skills and deepening their attitudes toward creating change in their communities. Both quantity and quality of applicant’s service and leadership experiences will be considered.
At Florida State University, Service Scholars will complete a minimum of 75 service hours per semester, participate in individual and group service projects, attend regular meetings, engage in learning, and promote community participation among their peers (please visit http://thecenter.fsu.edu and click on the Service Scholars heading for more information). The Program includes an annual $2,400 scholarship, which is automatically renewed each year, for four years, provided requirements are met.
